Lump sentiMETAL moment - The Pendant sculpture
A while ago at Lump we completed 3 beautiful and timely pieces commissioned by Steve Taylor from Creative Outdoor Solutions. Firstly, our Plum Blossom wall hanging in Corten Steel with a natural rusted finish. Then, our trademark Light Feature Panels with a hand cut tree design over a set of three panels, also in Corten steel with a natural rusted finish. And finally, The Pendant sculpture in stainless steel.
I have always been a little sentiMETAL about The Pendant sculpture, in the same way that I am sentiMETAL about treasured pieces I keep that were handed down to me from my Grandma. The Pendant was inspired by ajoure jewellery work, not to be confused with filigree jewellery work that involves threads being joined together to form an object. Ajoure jewellery work involves holes being punched through and cut out of the object to make the design.
The delicate hand cut tree design and the Plum Blossom wall hanging also share their origin from similar inspiration. But in particular and especially, The Pendant sculpture is a symbol of a precious object, a gift, a bequest and a treasure, not unlike those from Grandma.
