sentiMETAL moment

with Chris Herman

All of the Lumpians have now dragged themselves back from summer holiday Heaven. And while we are settling back into the swing of things and gathering ourselves for the onslaught of 2014, Chris Herman aka Hermy, took some time out to share his most sentiMETAL project from 2013.

What is your most sentiMETAL project from 2013? The yearly highlight for this Lumpian was a beautiful private residence, worked on with Jane Miller from Millar Robertson Architects for a most generous and enthusiastic family.

Why is it your favorite? I think it stands out simply because of my close involvement with the clients and the oscillation of design work between Jane and myself to get everything just right.

The consistency and attention to detail on this build was impeccable and things flowed so well, aided by the mad skillz of Tom Flack from BD projects.

What started as a fence detail grew into a custom balustrade and entry door panel and ended in a sculpture commission from the clients.

The front fence of this project is wicked, it must be seen in the flesh to be fully appreciated.

What special part did you play in the project? The design and consultation phases.

What was the most memorable thing about the project? Being lucky enough to work with the kind of clients that are few and far between, whilst  involved in a truly collaborative process with a  talented architect will always be a pleasure.

To top it off, receiving an email from the client as they move into their new home saying how happy they are is pretty special too.
