The madness of MIFGS 2014

Well, what can I say? This years MIFGS was a blast and one of the best we folk at Lump have been involved in so far. But I’m going to try and not get too gushy and all mushy about it just yet.

It simply would not be right to throw all the gardens and their makers into one post. Each and every garden we played a part in deserves its very own page of Lump blog love, so I’ll saver that for a little and let the love start gushing out next week.

In a nutshell, to start we bumped in with four outstanding show gardens and dropped off a sculpture to the Association of Sculptors Victoria (sculpture Walk). At this early stage of the show Chris managed to get his little fix of show garden bump in and build culture sure to last him for another year.

We rocked up with the whole Lump Crew for breakfast on opening morning of the show and we were greeted by Peta Donaldson from Natural Design with a shining, winning Silver medal for her garden “The Muse” on which we were very fortunate to be displaying our very new and gorgeous “Cube” sculpture.

To top it off Mark Browning threw his arms around us in celebration of winning the big Best IN Show, Gold AND Best Construction for his beautiful and moving creation “The Patriarchs Garden” in which he lovingly featured some of our specially made Lump pieces.

We enjoyed fully, the full five days of the open show. We stood in the rain with soggy flyers, lapped up the sun, had a minor freak out heart attack and a last minute dash to the factory in black tie get up and we danced the show jig with a slight twist and sway every now and again to stave off the old standing ache.

But best of all we were reunited with some old buddies, introduced to new buddies and we celebrated and gossiped with all at the trusty old Pumphouse which, without a visit there, MIFGS just would not have been MIFGS.
