Installing Sculptures. Things to consider.

When it comes to purchasing a sculpture, it’s important to carefully consider the installation process in advance to avoid running into unexpected problems. No two projects are the same and each can present its own unique set of challenges.

Talk to us

We have installed sculptures in all kinds of spaces, and we have learnt to anticipate potential challenges and devise appropriate solutions ahead of time. The more we know, the better we can plan. We encourage clients to provide photos, measurements, drawings and other detailed information prior to installation to make the process as smooth as possible. We can also send one of our Lump Studio team members out to consult on site and recommend solutions for the best possible outcome.

Accessability

Investigate your site thoroughly and make note of any obstacles that restrict access, especially if you are considering installing a larger piece.

Footing

If you’re planning to install your sculpture outside, it will require a concrete footing to secure it in position safely. Lump can advise you on the optimal dimensions and type of footing required to ensure your sculpture is stable.

Lighting

Some of our sculptures include lighting but many don’t. We can give you advice about how to light each piece for maximum effect. Alternatively, we can provide customised options to incorporate lighting into the object itself.

Baseplates and plinths

Some sculptures only require a simple base plate secured to a concrete footing for installation. These are easily dressed with stones or included in the garden bed. In other situations, the sculpture is most effectively displayed raised on a plinth. Your decision about how and where you install your sculpture will determine the size plinth you require. Talk to us about our custom-made plinths, our design team will help you select the right size and finish to compliment your choice of sculpture and space.

Security

Although it’s not something that anyone likes to think about, it is important to ensure that your sculpture is installed securely - especially if it is being displayed in a space that is accessible to the public. Let us know if you’re planning to install your piece in an area with street frontage or in a public space and we will provide security fixings to make sure your sculpture is secure and remains that way for years to come.

  1. I enjoy you because of all your work on this website. Kate loves managing research and it's really easy to understand why. My partner and i know all about the dynamic means you offer very important guidance on your web site and therefore invigorate response from some others on the topic while our daughter is always starting to learn a lot. Take pleasure in the remaining portion of the year. You are conducting a pretty cool job.
